In Hamilton's Mythology,
“[Clytemnestra] saw no reason to explain her act or excuse it. She was not a murderer in her own eyes, she was an executioner. She had punished a murderer [Agamemnon], the murderer of his own child” (Hamilton 356).
“Aegisthus [adulterer with Clytemnestra], of course, must die, but to kill him alone would never satisfy justice. His crime was less black than another’s. What then? Could it be justice that a son [Orestes] should take a mother’s [Clytemnestra’s] life to avenge a father’s [Agamemnon’s] death?” (Hamilton 357-358).
Put yourself in both Clytemnestra’s place and Orestes’ place and explain your thoughts about their situations.
