1) The speech that took place before his last battle contains a phrase which best shows his opinion regarding his years of  reign. "I've worn this crown for fifty winters: no neighboring people have tried to threaten the Geats, sent soldiers against us or talked of terror."  He points out that his reign was the best period of the Geats, during which he strengthened the country and made his best to make other tribes understand that Geats are unconquerable.
2) Ideal reflected in his speech is revealed as the importance of honor and glory which Beowulf achieved. He emphasized that these values led him to the peace so he is not afraid to leave this world as he is sure that he has done everything right.
