The wind and the sun were disputing which was the stronger. suddenly they saw a traveller coming down the road, and the sun said: "i see a way to decide our dispute. whichever of us can cause that traveller to take off his cloak shall be regarded as the stronger. you begin." so the sun retired behind a cloud, and the wind began to blow as hard as it could upon the traveller. the wind knew for sure that he was strong enough to blow the cloak clean off the traveller! but the harder he blew, the tighter the traveller wrapped the cloak around himself. the wind knew not to give up that easily. soon he tried bringing fierce winds from all directions. the traveller had to shut his eyes tight and push forward to even keep walking. at last, the wind became exhausted and gave up in despair. the sun, seeing that it was his turn, slowly peeked out from behind the cloud. as the wind had calmed down, the traveller had loosened his grip on the cloak. the sun came fully out from behind the cloud and shone brightly down on the traveller, warming him up after his long fight with the wind. shortly after, it became quite warm, and the traveller took off his cloak, sweating under the sun's beautiful rays.
