5. compose roughly 10 questions you can ask your interviewee about how he/she uses english, language, writing, and communication on the job. you want to make sure these questions are “open-ended” questions; this means you need to ask anything other than “yes/no” questions. if you must use a “yes/no” question, make sure to follow it up with a “why or why not? ” (see the second question below). most open-ended questions start with “how,” “what,” “when,” “where,” “who,” and “why.” organize your questions in a logical manner.
