Would emerson have been happy with the new technology, pop culture and social media progress or would he have seen it as a loss for humanity?

         In the context of today's technology, pop culture, and social media, in my opinion, yes, I do believe that Emerson would have been happy with the progress of his ideas about self-reliance. I think this because many people, after Emerson had begun publishing his poems and philosophical ideas, began to become more self-aware and develop their own sense of individuality. Even with humanity's self-preservation instincts, the ideas of self-reliance are seen much more prominently in today's society as compared to the time before Emerson had expressed his ideas on the topic. As a result, this is why I believe Emerson would be happy with the progress that was made over the years.
