Iam trying to say that this piece of literature shows that the upper class were hollow people and not actually living it up like people around them thought that they were. they were hollow people who did not notice and did not care to notice the things around them and they did not feel any way towards it. they were not happy people, they were only trying to drown everything out. how do i say this in one sentence and still sound educated?
