Aburglar caught in the act at a local high-rise saturday night almost lost more than his loot when he was surprised by the police and tried to jump. neighbors were suspicious when they heard loud banging noises out of apartment 9023-b on the building's ninth floor. why? they knew the neighbors, mr. and mrs. silvio geraci, were on vacation visiting their grandchildren. the thief, identified as robert whitman, escaped to the balcony when police arrived. when they found him, he was preparing to risk a nine-floor jump. a quick-acting police officer subdued the foolhardy man with a stun gun before he could reach the ledge.
