If we look back in history and Greek mythology, women have been portrayed in a number of characters. In some cases women are portrayed in their womanly characteristics but in other places women are also presented as the symbol of fierceness and bravery. Keeping it in mind, women warriors had the capacity of a woman who can do anything which a male had been performing.

In many literary works, especially in the ancient Greek and Roman stories, there can be found many instances of a lady disguising herself as a man in order to be either safe/ escape from someone or something. One best example can be the case of Athena who usually disguise herself as a man n order to help men/ mortals.

Now, an archetype is an universal type or characteristic of an individual who may be a model of example in the future.

A maiden cannot be an archetype for a strong achiever women character for she is usually characterized as a 'damsel in distress'.

The hero can also not be the best archetype for it is masculine, thus contradicting the very statement of a 'lady in disguise as a man'.

The Ingenue cannot be the right type for she is an innocent, naive woman, not capable of being seen as a strong female character.

So, an archetype who is a strong, capable female, who may disguise herself as a man in order to achieve her goal will be best seen in the character of a Lady Warrior.
