When writing a first draft it can be difficult to come up with ideas of what to write and how to write it. Taking short breaks allows you to step away from your ideas for a bit. During your break you can think about what you want to say but will not get frusturated that you are not writing anything. Once you come back from your break you will have fresh ideas and will be able to write quicker than before.
