"we know not where to look for a more admirable speech than the brief one which the president made at the close of mr. everett's oration could the most elaborate and splendid be more beautiful, more touching, more inspiring, than those thrilling words of the president? they had in our humble judgment the charm and power of the very highest eloquence."
write an essay of at least two to three paragraphs analyzing this newspaper remark from the providence journal. use specific quotations from the gettysburg address to support or refute the newspaper's claim.

The first one means that the president made such a short yet beautiful speech at the end of Mr. Everett's speech that the writer does not know where in the world he can find a more beautiful speech. He adds that it is his humble opinion that the president's speech was as beautiful as possible and that nothing in this world can be more beautiful and impressive. 

The second one means that kings and people of high stature are expected to give speeches in very grand language, using fancy words. 
People believe that this fancy language suits the respect we give to these great people. However, Mr. Lincoln spoke in a simple language and thus did not impress the writer. The writer thinks that Mr. Lincoln betrayed his social position by using plain language.

Evoke strong feelings, to create an impression, or for comic  effect. it is not meant to be taken literally.  hyperbole  is quite common in poetry and everyday speech to convey emphasis.
