Another name for ‘informational reading’ is nonfiction. Moreover, nonfiction or non-fiction is a substance that aims in good faith to signify truth and accuracy about information, people, or events.

Non-fiction content can be presented objectively or subjectively, and sometimes it can be in the shape of a story. Nonfiction is one of the basic divisions of narrative writing (especially prose)—different from fiction, which presents information, characters, or events that are expected to be partially or largely imaginary, or left open if and how the work denotes to reality.

Some fiction can include nonfiction elements as well as some nonfiction can include elements of unverified assumptions, deductions, or imaginations for the reason of tidying up the narrative, but the inclusion of open misinterpretation will dishonor it as a work of nonfiction. The business of publishing and selling books occasionally uses the phrase "literary nonfiction" to differ works with more intellectual or literary tendencies, as opposed to a larger collection of nonfiction subjects.
