In Inferno, we follow Dante's journey to Hell. Guided by the Roman poet Virgil,  Dante explores several circles of Hell, each dedicated to a particular type of sin. In each one of these circles, Dante encounters people he is acquianted with. These are historical figures, mythological and biblical characters or politicians of Dante's time. The people Dante finds in each circle  give us insight into Dante's perspective and his opinion of these characters.
