PERFORMANCE TASK Speaking Activity: Informative Presentation Colin Powell’s advice to readers is “Always do your very best.” Today, you will proceed to write a speech that you will present to the class through flipgrid. In your speech, you will need to explain how this principle helped shape Powell’s life and career.

• As you write your speech, include information from the texts that indicates
how experiences, people, and events influenced Powell.

• Be sure to present your ideas in a logical order. Include details that
support each idea.

• Once you are done writing your speech, practice delivering it in a formal
way, using appropriate eye contact, correct volume, and clear
pronunciation.

• Check that you have not used any vague pronouns that might confuse
listeners.

• When you present your speech, remember Powell’s principle and do
your very best!
