He had failed his final high school tests even after Mr. Jacobson, his math teacher, had agreed to give him extra classes after hours. The reason was he had not once appeared for the extra class, resulting in Mr. Jacobson calling upon his parents to tell them about Roland’s absence. His father had refused to give him any pocket money now for a week, and Roland was feeling miserable; his mother had left for her mother’s home after crying away the night. Even she had refused to speak to him, he had no hope left of getting any help.
