If it weren't for Iago's soliloquies, do you think you'd be able to tell that he was two-faced? He allows the audience to have full access to his thinking, thus we understand his true motives and intent. We know he can't be trusted. However, without that we wouldn't truly know him--and would more or less have faith in him. For this week's writing, I want you to think about having faith/pistis in someone vs having trust/pisteuo in someone. Faith usually aligns with gnosis (general knowledge/conventional wisdom) and trust comes with epignosis (super knowledge--or, knowledge gained through first-hand experience). The difference between the two is time--faith is believing but not knowing for sure because there's a lack of experience; trust has a track record, it has been consistently experienced again and again.

I want you to write about two characters--one that has faith in Iago, and one that trusts Iago. For the one that has faith, name who it is and explain why they have faith in Iago. Provide TEXT SUPPORT for your answer. For the one who trusts Iago, name who it is and explain how they have come to trust him. Again, provide TEXT SUPPORT for your answer! (NOTE--it does not have to be a direct quote. Just summarize the part of the story you're talking about)
