Write a persuasive essay in which you attempt to convince your reader to agree with your point of view. Respond to ONE of the following prompts in your persuasive essay: Of the following list: Romeo, Juliet, Tybalt, Mercutio, Friar Laurence, or the Nurse, who is the most memorable character of Romeo and Juliet? Support your answer with the text.
The prince decrees at the end of Romeo and Juliet that some people will be pardoned and others will be punished. Who is at fault for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet? Choose the character that you think is most responsible for the deaths of these lovers. Support your answer with the text.
Some believe Romeo and Juliet is more of a romance than a tragedy. Persuade your audience on whether you believe the play is more of a romantic story or a tragic story. Use examples from the play to support your answer.

Requirements:

You must include at least two (2) reasons (or body paragraphs) to support your thesis statement.
You must include at least three (3) quotations from the play, with proper citations, in your body paragraphs. In general, your quotes should not be the first or last sentence of a body paragraph because you need to introduce and explain all quotes.
Proper citation: Juliet says, “O Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore art thou Romeo?/ Deny thy father and refuse thy name” (II. ii.33-35).

**Notice that you include the ACT (in capital Roman numerals), the scene (in lowercase Roman numerals) and the line numbers. Be aware of the punctuation! ++ I = 1, II = 2, III= 3, IV = 4, V = 5

Use present tense when discussing literature!
Additional points will be earned if you include a counter argument (Here’s a video about counter argument).

Use formal language (all regular requirements still apply—no contractions, solid word choice, etc.)
Must be at least two (2) typed, double-spaced, Times New Roman, 12-point font, 1- inch margins, proper heading.
