Eduardo crept along the side of the house — he didn't want his mother to see him. her reaction to being startled was one of the funniest he had ever seen. he tried to startle her at least once a week because it provided a nice laugh for both of them. tonight, his mother was hanging laundry on the clothesline in the backyard, and the dangling clothes and linens provided yet another means of camouflage.

he crept closer, then popped out from behind a bedsheet and screamed, "boo! "

as eduardo's mother's arms flailed in the air, she let out a whoop and ran toward the house.

eduardo collapsed on the ground in hysterics. he laughed so hard, tears started rolling down his cheeks. his mother walked back over to her son with a smirk on her face.
