Read the poem “The White Window” by James Stephens.
The moon comes every night to peep
Through the window where I lie,
And I pretend to be asleep;
But I watch the moon as it goes by,
And it never makes a sound.
It stands and stares, and then it goes
To the house that's next to me,
Stealing on its tippy-toes,
To peep at folk asleep maybe;
And it never makes a sound.
What does the first stanza tell the reader about?
A. It describes how the moon appears in the speaker’s window every night.
B. It describes how the speaker pretends to be the moon every night.
C. It describes how the speaker falls asleep every night.
D. It describes how the moon comes up every night.
