"However, it was of no use, as I only seemed to be getting further and further away from the tree. EARNESTLY, I climbed off the boat and, as a hungry shark, swam towards the island, resisting the bitter ice that clung onto me." Is it safe to use the word "earnestly" or should I replace it with "impatiently", I feel like earnestly might be better, because I don't think impatiently aligns with the context, but I need your help. What would you choose (considering the context) (can also choose another word, would appreciate it)
