In Chapter 11, we see Enzinma carried off by Chielo (make sure to read to find out why), who is acting as Agbala, one of their Goddess'. When Chielo arrives at Okonkwo's compound it is stated that "It was not the same Chielo who sat with her (Enzinma/Ekwefi) in the market... Chielo was not a woman that night" (96-97 in the pdf) signifying that Chielo has gone through some sort of change, or is displaying a different personality. What do you make of this culture where people can be both themselves and also assume other personas? Can you think of any parallels in our own world?
