They seem like good choices, but A is a bit risky. If one of the tree limbs can't support your weight and you fall down, you're a goner. The pursuer will hear you and go in your direction. B, you may not have enough time to dig a big hole and get everything ready. C, What if there is a hungry shark down there? And "The world is made up of two classes-the hunters and the huntees.",  his shipmate has expressed sympathy for the jaguar that they may soon pursue; however, Rainsford has no feelings for animals, explaining that one is either a predator, or a prey for the predator--the world is made of only these two types of creatures.  And, as the second poster has cogently commented, this remark is definitive of foreshadowing. In addition, this statement is ironic since Rainsford himself soon becomes prey:  As he is forced later, after falling overboard, to engage in General Zaroff's dangerous game of hunting human beings, Rainsford finds himself the prey, now he knew what it was like to be a beast at bay. This new role in which he is pursued gives Rainsford a new perspective on "the hunters and the huntees." For, his is no longer callous disregard, but empathy.

A is hopeful, you have a chance to survive but also not. and how are you gonna get down without making noise?

B is a chance to run away fast as you can, far as you can, as making such noise as you can but you have to think fast, a hole is easy to escape out of and you need atleast a 10 feet hole.
