sentence 1= the claim in 1 sentence (restate the question to express your thoughts and your reasons for them)

sentence 2= clarify your claim (go into further detail over what you meant in sentence 1)

sentence 3= first piece of evidence (make sure you are not using an extremely long quote/they look bad)

sentence 4/5 = the sentences explaining how or why your evidence proves your point (use a transition to explain what exactly about this example is connecting to your claim. Don't announce - I believe/ Hello my name is/ In my opinion)

sentence 6 = evidence 2 (try to change up the type of evidence to give your response some variety. Meaning if you started with a quote then bring in some paraphrasing or try paraphrasing and quoting together.)

sentence 7/8 = the sentences explaining how or why your evidence proves your point (make sure at this point to start working in how this second example not only proves your point but how it connects with the previous example to further your point as well.)

**optional third evidence and the sentences that follow (this would depend on how long the response has to be)

otherwise sentence 9 = the conclusion (reword your claim using a transition that tells the reader you are wrapping things up. Don't create an entirely new claim by rewording too much)

Read the excerpt from chapter 18 in frankenstein. alas! to me the idea of an immediate union with my elizabeth was one of horror and dismay. i was bound by a solemn promise which i had not yet fulfilled and dared not break, or if i did, what manifold miseries might not impend over me and my devoted family! could i enter into a festival with this deadly weight yet hanging round my neck and bowing me to the ground? i must perform my engagement and let the monster depart with his mate before i allowed myself to enjoy the delight of a union from which i expected peace. examine this excerpt to analyze the way the author’s choice of words adds to the meaning and impacts the tone of this portion of frankenstein. what does victor mean when he talks about “this deadly weight yet hanging round my neck and bowing me to the ground”? how do these words affect the tone at this point in the story? use examples and evidence from the text to support your analysis. frankenstein chapter 18
