Directions: According to the author of your United States Government: Principles in Practice textbook, "A responsible citizen can exhibit any number of other characteristics as well, but they will also exhibit, or at least strive to exhibit each of these characteristics...By living up to these characteristics, responsible citizens help ensure that society works well for everyone." (Fraga, p. 344) In other words, being a responsible U. S. citizen means fulfilling certain civic obligations to help protect the civil rights and freedoms of their fellow countrymen. Do you agree or disagree with these statements? Why?

How might the U. S. be different if no one fulfilled their civic obligations?

Do you think there would be more fighting or less?

Were more laws broken or fewer?
