Standard English to me is a type of formal language used for class projects and papers and educational settings it does not include slang and is used when necessary such as during meetings in a formal workplace and so on. Now that you know what standard English is I want to address the issue if it should be used on a normal basis banning slang but the only way I see that this rule should be made if it is for educational and professional workplaces only is used in a casual setting it can make the conversation seem stiff and boring but while using slang abbreviations and so on it can sound casual and relaxed making it easier for people to feel like they can join the conversation.
