Directions: Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is famous for the skillful and purposeful use of effective rhetorical strategies in his speeches. The speech "I've Been to the Mountaintop" makes no exception. In this speech, Martin Luther King uses a variety of rhetorical devices to influence his audience.
In an analytical essay, identify the rhetorical choices made by the speaker, describe them, and explain their purpose.

Intro:
Introduce the topic by stressing on the role of the speaker’s rhetorical choices.
Narrow down the topic to M. L. King’s speech “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop.”
State your thesis by stressing on the role of the rhetorical devices (e. g., metaphor, anaphora, and allusion) the speaker chooses to create coherence, to generate attention and, ultimately, to assure the listeners that the victory is close.
Body: Write three paragraphs, each dedicated to one of the rhetorical devices used by the speaker to achieve his goals - to create coherence, to generate attention, and to assure the listeners that the victory is close.
In each of the paragraphs provide textual evidence, i. e., refer to the text to support your point by giving examples (quotes) and explain them.

Conclusion: Restate your thesis and evaluate the role of the skillful use of the rhetorical devices for the delivery of the speaker’s strong and inspiring message.
