In this way, the sunlight and the progressive passage of time mark that their situation is increasingly dark.

2- The context of the phrase occurs after the wedding of the protagonists, when Juliet's cousin challenges Romeo to a duel, in which Romeo's best friend, Mercutio, and Juliet's own cousin, Tybalt, die.
