This is one of the thousand words in English that has a lot of definitions and even word usage, it would have been better had you given an example so as to be able to know the exact definition you had in mind. However, that being said, I will list a couple of definition I know for you.

Period can mean a punctuation mark. The punctuation mark, "full stop" is also alternatively called period. So, that's one of the definition of period.

Period can be used in relation to time. Like, for example when you're in school and having a couple of classes. You might be asking your classmate, "Which period are we having Professor Jack?"

Period can also send a tone of finality in a sentence. For example, while talking to someone, you can say

"you're not allowed to do anything else, period!"
