I need a theme statement for shame. the story is fish cheeks. the story is about a chinese family inviting over a white family. the daughter had a crush on the boy and she was embarrassed about eating the chinese food in front of them. the white family didn’t seem to enjoy the food which made her feel even more embarrassed. when they left the mother said something like you wanna be american on the outside but you must always be chinese. your only shame is to have shame.
