Now you'll participate in a discussion about Anne's purpose in writing her diary, as well as the North Koreans' purpose in using this text. Examine one of your classmate's posts.

I think that Anne's purpose in writing her diary was to have an outlet so she could vent her feelings. She was, at heart, a really social person. The diary helped to fill a void that was missing in her life by allowing her to openly express her feelings. In North Korea, her diary is used to teach students to spread hate and fear. It's a frightening use of the diary, but I think it just goes to show that an author cannot always control how their writing will be used—or what agendas it will be used to support.

Create one original post that
