Then the Giver told him that his parents are going to be childless and then Jonas kids won know their grandparents. Thatś one reason why. Second thing they have to much strict rules in the community and for Jonas Reciver job that he does not like. They have to keep all of memories of pain and happiness in their own brain and no body knows about things they know.
