You will read a story prompt. Then, you will become the author and write your own story based on the ideas you are given. In this lesson, you will organize YOUR ideas for the narrative in the Narrative Organization Chart. Read the story prompt.
Use the Narrative Organization Chart to plan your own story featuring the two teens as characters and the setting described in the prompt.
Start with your characters walking home from the secret meeting and discovering the time capsule. Take your reader through the rising action as they decide what to do with their discovery. Create a climax where they make an important decision to resolve the conflict. End with a resolution to show us how the events resolve and to share a theme.
Complete each box on your Narrative Organization Chart. Make sure to include:
Beginning of your narrative
Exposition
Name and describe your protagonists.
Describe the setting.

Middle of your narrative
Rising Action
What is the conflict they face? What is going wrong in the city?
List two events where the protagonists take steps to resolve the conflict.
Climax
What big decision do the protagonists make to help solve the conflict?
What action do the character take?

Ending of your narrative
Falling Action
What are the consequences of this decision?
Resolution
What happens at the end of the story?
What do you want the reader to learn? This is the theme.
Save your work to your computer or drive.
Submit your work in 03.03 Planning Your Narrative Story.
If you cannot save your chart, you can type the information into a document and submit.
