Our society tends to value the individual and her or his experiences. However, certain natural physical appetites and pleasures are viewed as negative. Do we, in our modern society, want to do away with “passion?” Do we tend to be moralists, immoralists, or something in between? (Use evidence found in the text of Morality as Anti-Nature by Friedrich Nietzsche to support your answer.)
In general, it seems that the modern west, along with most of the world, has come to a consensus about certain basic human rights. What is a right? Do we really have them? If so, how and why? Discuss the connection between human rights and the question of whether or not man is basically good or evil. (Use evidence found in the text of, Of Dignity or Meaness of Human Nature by David Hume to support your answer.)
Respond to each of the questions above with at least one paragraph each. Use text evidence from the reading passages in the day 1 and day 2 folders of this week.
