How was king James connected to Macbeth ?

You might well say that Shakespeare wrote Macbeth with King James I in mind. James was not only ruling England when Shakespeare wrote this play. He was also the current patron of the theatre company that Shakespeare was associated with; they'd changed their name from The Lord Chamberlain's Men to The King's Men when James succeeded Elizabeth I.
