In addition to protecting our environment and prolonging the lifespan of Earth’s natural resources, recycling has become a big industry. More than 50,000 recycling and reuse facilities employ more than 1 million people. These workers earn an annual income of nearly $37 billion. The total gross annual revenue of these facilities is more than $230 billion. Saving the planet is a noble and worthwhile goal, but it’s also important to recognize the real economic benefits of reusing and recycling.
