It is important to understand cultural differences because it perpetuates the need for diversity. The world is not black and white and living in a false and unrealistic world like that can be extremely detrimental. When you are exposed to more cultures etc, you become more open minded. That has a direct impact on your perspective. It can change the way how you speak, make you more understanding and even help with your patience. There's way too much in life to live in a bubble and not exploring what life has to gives is extremely mundane!
