For us humans, we are diurnal. Diurnal means only awake during the day. We are only awake during the day because it's warm, easy to see, and provides us with vitamin D which makes us feel good.

Some animals are nocturnal. That means they are only awake during night. Small animals can hide from predators easier and gather food. In hot places, it  is good because animals can hide from the hot sun.
