Fahrenheit 451 - Questions #2 1.Faber is not finished in his defense of books. On page 82, he argues that books “are to remind us what asses and fools we are,” and then he explains how most of us never get to visit most of the world or talk to powerful people or see important events ourselves, “but the only way the average chap will ever see ninety nine percent of them is in a book.” Montag’s reply is his plan to plant books in the houses of firemen and then report on them but Faber isn’t convinced that will work. He says people stopped reading themselves without the fear that firemen would come to their houses. Firemen put on a good show, but in fact they are not needed. In fact, most people don’t want to read. To help Montag, Faber has an invention that will help him. Explain Faber’s invention, and how Montag can use it.
