The letter written by Martin Luther King, when he was imprisoned in Birmingham, applies to today's world, as blacks still did not achieve full freedom and social equality, which is why King fought and was arrested.

In his letter, King reinforces the need to seek the rights of blacks and criticizes the position of religious and political leaders in not supporting this cause. We can see it repeating itself today, mainly in the USA that preaches equality and freedom, but we can see day after day, black people being humiliated, limited and even killed for racist and inhuman reasons. Religious and political leaders have, as in the days of King, closed their eyes to this cause, or disapproved of the position of blacks in fighting and demanding changes.
