Though there are many definitions to critical thinking, there are common things that defines what it is and is not. What is the best given definition of critical thinking?

Critical thinking is that mode of thinking - about any subject, content,
or problem - in which the thinker improves the quality of his or her thinking by
skillfully taking charge of the structures inherent in thinking and imposing
intellectual standards upon them in a search for some form of truth.

Critical thinking refers to a generalized inability to distinguish emotions and
thoughts. For some, strong emotions tend to interfere with balanced and
realistic thought processes and can result in distorted views of situations and
relationships which makes their thoughts feel critical.

Critical thinking is simply finding faults and weaknesses in other people's
arguments in order to critique them.
Critical thinking is based on proven knowledge and information that is accurate
and certain. It is the basis of modern technology, and it is commonly referred to
as left-brain thinking.
