School Paper (1) Last week, the school administrators announced that they will be canceling the school newspaper. (2) However, this is a huge mistake. (3) The paper is very popular, not just as a source of information but as a learning tool. (4) The school should keep its student-run newspaper.
(5) The administrators state that having a school newspaper is no longer needed because we now have a social media site on which to post news and updates. (6) However, that is not entirely true. (7) There is more to the newspaper than just news and updates.
(8) Another claim is that having a school newspaper is not environmentally responsible. (9) However, the newspaper does not have to be on actual paper; it could be on a web page online.
(10) Additionally, the newspaper provides a better format for students to develop their writing skills. (11) Having just a social media site does not allow for students to write longer articles. (12) Therefore, it is important that the school keep its newspaper.
