Proposal 1: The best way to get people invested in the library is to show them the joy of reading. For that reason, the library should hold a book sale. Books should be inexpensive so people will buy more of them – may be fifty cents for paperbacks and two dollars for hardcover books. A book sale would appeal to people of all ages, from little kids to older people. There should also be a table where people can sign up for library cards. Proposal 2: A great way to make money for the library would be holding a car wash. The softball team at my school raised over $400 at their car wash last year! Since our purpose is to raise money for our library, after a thorough reading of both proposals, I believe the most efficient one to be the second proposal. It is true that the first proposal suggests an activity that is more directly connected to our main object - the library. It also presents the beautiful idea that a book sale would awake people's interest in reading books. However, I believe that idea is as utopian as it is beautiful. Unfortunately, it takes more than just a book sale for that to happen. Besides that, we must take the suggested prices for the books into consideration - between fifty cents and two dollars -, since they will not be very effective. Our purpose is to raise funds, so we need to be efficient to get people to spend their money.

The second proposal, on the other hand, sounds strange and disconnected at first. After all, a car wash does not sound very intellectual or book-related. Still, we must keep in mind that car washes are known to raise a good amount of money more easily. People may not even enjoy reading, but their chances of contributing are higher since those who own a car will probably want to have it cleaned for a good cause. The proposal also stated that not many volunteers would be necessary (only around ten), and we can easily find help when the activity is enjoyable. I believe this proposal has higher chances of effectively raising funds.
