-Juana Ines de la Cruz was a Mexican writer.  Already as a child, she began to write the first literary works; at the age of 14 she became known for her beauty, knowledge and poetic talent. The wife of the Mexican viceroy took care of her; when she was 16 she joined the order of bare Carmelites, which she left after 3 months. In 1669 she joined the order of hieronimites, in which she remained until her death. She had comprehensive scientific interests, and liked to observe stars. She proclaimed that by dedicating science, man draws closer to God. She wrote poetry and prose (including dramas and comedies), and often opposed the humiliation of women by men.

Her most important works are Neptuno Alegórico (1680), Carta Athenagórica (1690), the autobiographical essay Respuesta a Sor Filotea de la Cruz (1691) and the poem Primer sueño. She is considered the first outstanding author in the history of Latin America.

-Juana Inés de la Cruz fue una escritora mexicana.  Ya de niña, comenzó a escribir sus primeras obras literarias; A los 14 años se hizo conocida por su belleza, conocimiento y talento poético. La esposa del virrey mexicano la adoptó de niña; y cuando tenía 16 años se unió a la orden de Carmelitas Descalzas, que dejó después de 3 meses. En 1669 se unió a la orden de los Jerónimos, en la que permaneció hasta su muerte. Tenía amplios intereses científicos y le gustaba observar estrellas. Ella proclamó que al dedicarse a la ciencia, el hombre se acercaba mas a la creación de Dios. Escribió poesía y prosa (incluidos dramas y comedias), y a menudo se opuso a la humillación de las mujeres por parte de los hombres.
