Thousands at his bidding speed And post o’er land and ocean without rest: They also serve who only stand and wait.” In the sestet from Sonnet XIX by John Milton, how is the idea of service to God interpreted? The best way to serve God is to stop complaining and wait. God asks us to work tirelessly to serve Him. Only the mild-mannered workers may serve God. Rather than demanding work, God asks only for faith, devotion, or acceptance.
