In the fable, "The Lobster and the Crab," the setting and the lobster's willing spirit help to develop the theme that risks might be required to achieve
adventure. The lobster wants to go sailing, even though it was a stormy day and his boat had holes in it. The crab says, "It is foolhardy to venture out
on a day like this" (Anonymous 1). In response, the lobster acknowledges his warning but tells him that he loves a squall at sea (Anonymous 3). It is
evident that the lobster understood he would be taking a risk to have a good time. By the end of the fable, the pair endure the storm and rough waters
and are happy that they had a pleasantly unordinary day. Overlooking the inconvenient conditions develops the theme that to achieve adventure risks
may need to be taken
