1. “My Father Writes to My Mother” (autobiography) is written in first person- from the perspective of the daughter of the couple being written about. What if a neighbor were writing the story? Write a few paragraphs of the story from the perspective of one of the women in the village.
(Be sure to include details of the plot. Be sure to let reader know in the beginning who the narrator is).

2. “The Happy Man”
Write a report by the psychiatrist in the story describing the man’s “problem” and setting forth a treatment plan. (first paragraph - report/diagnosis summary; second paragraph- recommended treatment plan) Remember, this would be in very technical, formal, objective language.

3. The Ramayana
Newspaper reports follow a standard format. The most important facts of a newspaper story are revealed in the beginning paragraphs-called the lead. Supporting facts, details, examples, quotations, and other sorts of information follow. Write a newspaper account of the events that occurred in Janaka’s assembly hall, specifically Rama’s stringing of the bow. Remember to include details that details who, what, where, when, and why or how. Create quotes for some of the onlookers to give the story substance. Read the excerpt from part 3 of the call of the wild. but it was in giving the law and making his mates live up to it, that buck excelled. dave and sol-leks did not mind the change in leadership. it was none of their business. their business was to toil, and toil mightily, in the traces. so long as that were not interfered with, they did not care what happened. billee, the good-natured, could lead for all they cared, so long as he kept order. the rest of the team, however, had grown unruly during the last days of spitz, and their surprise was great now that buck proceeded to lick them into shape. what theme is most supported by the ideas in this excerpt? good leaders are strong and intelligent. loyalty can be a very powerful force. only the strong survive in the wilderness. we are all ruled by our natural instincts.
