As we draw closer to the end of school we're going to move away from the news gathering we've been doing back to some basics. As I continually mention in class Story is critical in every aspect of film and video production. Once you decide on story then you have to decide on HOW, the story is told, WHAT that looks like and HOW do you convey your vision of story to those that will work on your film as well as those that will watch it.
Assignment: Watch this scene from the movie Bolt -
YOU WILL BE CREATING 1 DOCUMENT WITH 2 PARTS TO TURN IN FOR THE GRADE. Your Document will have the following 2 parts and contain the required info.
Part 1. Screenplay - as explained below

Part 2. Shot List - as explained below

Assignment PART 1 - Create a screenplay. Essentially you are reverse engineering the script in your own words from what you see happening on screen. Write actions lines that are describing what is happening on camera, Identify the characters and write their dialogue , write headers every time the location changes. SCRIPTS NEED TO BE IN PROPER FORMAT, USE ONE OF THE ONLINE APPS (WRITERSOLO)

Watch the this video in you tube on How to Write a Scene Description. In the video he doesn’t include dialogue, YOU MUST INCLUDE THE DIALOGUE.

KEEP YOUR WRITING SIMPLE AND DIRECT - 1 thought or description per sentence

USE COMPLETE SENTENCES and proper spelling. Other people will see and read

BE AS DESCRIPTIVE AS POSSIBLE. Use a Thesaurus or similar grammar tool to help you pick words that mean exactly what you see or feel.

Assignment PART 2 - Make a SHOT LIST of the Scene that you have selected from your movie. A shot list is like a written version of a storyboard. You will be writing what the shot is and a description of it, see the examples below.
