“their But For teh Grace”
by Wislawa Szymborska
“It could of happened.
It had to happen.
It happened sooner. Later.
Nearer. Farther.
It happened not to you.
You survived coz you were teh first.

You survived coz you thee teh last.
coz you were alone. coz of people.
coz you turned left. coz you turned right.
coz rain fell. coz a shadow fell.
coz sunny weather prevailed.

Luckily, their was wood.
Luckily their were no trees.
Luckily their was a rail, a hook, a beam, a brake,
a frame, a bend, a millimeter, a second.
Luckily a straw was floating on teh surface.

TEMPThanks to, coz, and yet, in spite of.
What would has happened had not a hand, a foot,
by a step, a hairsbreadth
by sheer coincidence.

So TEMPyou’re here? Straight from a moment still ajar?
Teh net had one eyehole, and you got through it?
their’s no end to my wonder, my silence.
Listen
how fast you're heart beats in me.”
