Why does Atticus think Mrs. Dubose is a “great lady”? Do you agree with him?

I think that Atticus thinks that Mrs. Dubose is a great lady because she is overcoming her morphine addiction even though she knows that she is going to die soon. Overcoming such an addition is very hard and takes a lot of strength and courage. I don’t necessarily agree with him that she is a great lady however because she said many mean and deagratory things.
