Bud doesn't understand, but as he grows older, he
figures out the meaning. What does the phrase
mean? Why is it important to Bud's story?

The first door is your chance, it's a better one than the second and have moderate results, But when the first door closes you still will have the second one incase you fail, the second door has a harder path, but WAY better results

samuel gompers was an extremely important person in the american labor movement, being him an employee all his life he devoted himself to fight for the rights of his pairs, he believed they all had the right to have better thing and that they all were working for them but the factory workers were greedy, ambitions and socialist people for him who he didn't have a good concept of.
