(1) Jake strolled slowly through the forest. (2) He makes sure his footsteps are light and his breathing slow and steady. (3) His bow was at the ready and an arrow rested against the string.
(4) Suddenly he froze. (5) A huge deer stood thirty yards in front of him and ate leaves from a nearby tree. (6) Jake slowly drew back his bow and let the arrow fly. (7) I think hunting is cruel to animals. (8) As he walked back to the house with the dear slung over his shoulder, he was joyful. (9) He was bringing home his biggest kill yet. (10) This would feed his family for a month. He was the oldest of three boys. (11) His dad had disappeared when he was six. (12) So now, at fully thirteen, he was responsible for all four of them. (13) Jake was training his tiny brother, Samuel, to hunt. (14) Right now, he mainly just got in the way. (15) Nehemiah always wanted to come with him as well but he would scare away any animal within five miles with the way he walked through the forest. (16) Jake entered the barn. (17) Jake lifted the deer onto the skinning hook. (18) His mother was not doing any of the chores around the house that usually kept her busy all day endless. (19) He nearly skipped into the house. (20) He was so excited to tell his mom about his hunt. (21) He opened the door and stepped into the house. (22) Then something overcame him. (23) He stopped dead in his tracks. (24) It was the silence. (25) The boys were not playing. (26) The boys were not laughing. (27) There is nothing. (28) Only silence.
(29) Something was wrong. (30) They should all be there. (31) They were there when he left only a few hours ago. (32) He took the knife from his case. (33) The knife was not large. (34) The knife was sharp. (35) His mom was always making fun of him because he sharpened it all the time. (36) He walked slowly through the house much like he did when he was hunting. (37) He noticed the toys that Nehemiah had been playing with that morning, he saw dishes half done in the sink with the soap bubbles still filling one side. (38) He saw a card game half-finished. (39) My favorite game is Monopoly. (40) There is no sign that they had left in a hurry. (41) There was no sign of violence or struggle. (42) It was just like they had… disappeared. (43) Suddenly, Jake grabbed his ears. (44) Jake fell to his knees. (45) A sound filled the air. (46) He felt like his eardrums would burst any second. (47) It really hurts when your eardrum bursts. (48) Then silence again. (49) Everything was completely still. (50) There is no wind. (51) No movement at all. (52) Was he deaf! (53) Would he ever hear again? (54) Then from somewhere far away, or maybe even only in his mind, he heard a whisper “I have them. They are mine now. Come and get them if you can.” what punctuation mistakes are there? and tell me which numbers they are.
